saw the incredible P.W.E.I. last night, band I've loved since I was introduced to This is the day... when I was at secondary school, but only seen once before at Phoenix Festival.
gig was advertised as part of a 3 day "greatest hits" tour, and the crowd was mostly like me, i.e. middled aged ppl there to see a band they've loved and followed since their youth :)
They were really good, Clint Mansell left the band many years ago to do the Hollywood soundtrack thing ( wonder what happened to him? ;) ) but Mary Byker is a great front man on the old and newer songs.
there were 3 new songs in the set, but they were surrounded by known and loved songs, so didn't slow things down. Good that a group of middled aged men on stage can still jump around for 90mins as can an audience :)
didn't take many photos, and just took a little video of one of the encore songs:

Elbow at the finally open, infamous Co-Op Live Arena. They were superb as ever and the arena really impressive, although I did glance to the ceiling a few times..

Just got back from Mr Bungle at the Kentish Town Forum, support by Spotlights.
Sound wasn't very good for the singer, but the band sounded great.
Mr Bungle were awesome, well worth the trip to London to see them, this is the "new" incarnate super group Mike Patton, Dave Lombardo, Trey Spruance, Scott Ian, Trev Dunn playing new versions of the really old stuff, and mixing in some easy listening, I guess so Scott Dave and Trey can rest from the trash metal guitar riffs, double bass drumming etc for a bit ;)

Isle of Wight Festival...
...and it was good.
If you ever get a chance to see The Mary Wallopers at a festival, take it.
Other highlights:
- The Darkness
- Feeder
- Loreen
- Simple Minds
- The Pretenders
- The Prodigy (even if I only saw a bit of their set, always a great lightshow)
- Crowded House

No Green Day :( heard they gave a shout out to the Joiners, they played there many many many many years ago :)
a mate's "claim to fame" is that he was in band, who before he joined them, supported Green Day at The Joiners :)
sadly I have no stories of what they were like back then!
edit: see you saw some bits of them :)

"If you ever get a chance to see The Mary Wallopers at a festival, take it."I noticed before they're playing Glastonbury this year - although I'm not sure I could be less interested in it this year bar a couple of acts.
