Page 1 of TMPGenc Question

I know that this is probably better suited to dvdrhelp website, but I want a non technical view. I`ve used TMPGenc to convert to VCD just wondering if its worth the £40 to be able to use it to encode to SVCD ? Use it to convert from videocam for family. Is there a real noticeable difference - VCD quality seems ok to me - although can have a liquid effect. I did have the trial version - but forgot to use it in the month allowed.

Basically, no. It`s worth encoding to SVCD, but TMPGEnc isn`t the best software to do it in my opinion. It`s slow at MPEG2 encoding and not very efficient.

Cinema Craft Encoder Basic is a much better buy at $58.00 (around £35). The encoding engine is the same as in the professional version of CCE - it`s very fast, and the quality it produces is excellent. Get the trial version from http://www.cinemacraft.com and see what you think.

Mike - thx for the response, I thought Cinema Craft was mega expensive (£250+) - but its only £35 and you get the same engine - pretty good. I`ll definitely give it a go.

you could also try VCD GALAXY as this has loads of tools built in (including tmpeg)

How does the quality of SVCD compare to VCD ? It it noticably better ?

plus tmpg rocks if u get user settings right and put filters in correct order for converting
