Page 1 of audisy 2 "HELP"

just bought this sound card ans am having trouble getting it to work! i`m running windows xp but the set up for the soundcard is asking me to put in service disc pack 1 for windows xp to find the drivers! what is this disc? or were can i download what i need? help please! thanx

you need to download service pack 1 from microsoft it`s the same with some usb drivers.

you can download the drivers direct from creative,or have u a driver disc?????

regardless of the drivers you have, sometimes you need microsft updates from the microsoft website (via update) it`s probably an anti-piracy measure as you can only get xp updates if you have a genuine copy of xp installed.

I can`t see why you would have to download service pack 1 in order to use an audigy 2 card,no matter if it was to check for fraud,creative are a different company and the card should work no matter what Microsoft say as long as you have the drivers?

service pack probably contains a patch that the audigy needs, i don`t know why creative can`t/won`t include this with the product, i can only speculate that microsoft want to keep it this way for there own benefit
