CD Writer

Oor Wullie (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 4th December 2003, 11:21

I have had a PC and been on the Internet since 1999. I have never had a CD Writer, but I am to get one for Christmas. Can you tell me if you can only use a writer to make audio CD`s or can you also make picture one`s as well.

And does anyone recommend a burner for a novice to use. Thanks. :D

have a look on ebuyer.com - they have a great 52 speed samsung burner for just under £30.

I burn almost everyday and have not had one single problem with this one, and its let me overburn discs to silly extremes.

I was so impressed with it I bought the matching DVD drive to go with it....nice.

I`m a fan of the Lite-On writers myself. I`ve installed quite a few of them, and found them to be solid and reliable.

SVP have an OEM Lite-On (52x write, 32x rewrite) for £25. You can also buy a retail Lite-On writer, bundled with Nero writing software, for £33.

With a writer installed in your PC, you can create any type of CD - so long as you have the appropriate software. Audio CDs, Video CDs, data CDs, picture CDs, the list is endless.

There are loads of different CD writing programs out there; I would recommend Nero as a good starting point. (It`s a very powerful and versatile bit of software, and easy for beginners to get to grips with.)

yeah go for one with nero software included. the software looks a bit complicated at first, but you`ll soon get used to the functions
