New Computer System - how do I make it multi-region?

Georgia (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 6th December 2003, 14:38

Hi,

I`m in England and I just bought a Compaq with a DVD player. At the moment all it can play are Region 2 DVDs and I`d like to be able to play American DVDs as well. How would I go about doing that?

Right the player software will have 5 resets before it locks to one region. Download DVD Genie to get around this. Very easy. Just look on google for it.
The drive region settings require a firmware change. Whether or not this is available is dependent on the make of your DVD drive. It`s not a difficult thing to do but (generally) involves working in DOS.

No `flashing`, no DOS - nothing. It just runs when you start your software DVD player.

go to the site i`ve linked you to : digi.rpc1.org/rpc.htm
run "rcpde 2" utility thats in step 1, then run "dvd region killer" in step 2 ... this makes your p.c fully multi-region with no messy flashing etc .... enjoy :D
