Strange rebooting problem

Bigmonty69 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 5th February 2004, 14:46

Hi

I recently got a new TV, DVD player, Surround system so I decided to move things about in my room.

I shifted my PC about 3 feet to the left. Reconnect everything, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor and USB ISDN.

Everything thing was fine at first, New Hardware found was my USB ISDN. Then after finding it my PC decided to restart. No warning just turned itself off an on.

When it rebooted I got a Microdoft error message, asking me to report the error. I klicked OK on that and my PC randomly (insert 20 - 60 second interval in here) reboots again. No warnings.

I have found if I disconnect my USB ISDN everything is fine. I can`t however fathom how moving a PC 3 feet can have this effect on it. Nothign appears wrong with my ISDN box or anything (green lights shining).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try plugging the usb devices in different ports because i`ve had the same problem with a scanner and mouse detecting new hardware when i`d disconnected it. It turn out that i had changed the usb port that i connected the scanner to, i just changed it back to what i thought was the right way, rebooted my machine and it was fine.
