Damn right they can, they`re bloody fantastic.
It`s been the best purchase I have made in years. The pocket word and excel are excellent for working on the move and the camera is much better quality than any other camera phone, though don`t expect dedicated digital camera quality results.
The GPRS provides an excellent internet connection that I thought was surprisingly fast.
The handwriting recognition is excellent, or if you prefer there is an onscreen keyboard.
It really depends on what you want. If you`re looking for the complete mobile office solution, I think this is the best thing short of a notebook. They are expensive, but if you`re in the kind of work that will make use fo the excellent features, I can thoroughly recommend it.
Not only is it a digital camera, but it will also take video clips.
The instruction manual, which is excellent quotes 15 hours of battery life, which I think may be a little generous. I have an in car charger which makes it very versatile as a portable music solution, with Windows Media Player included.
If you want I could put together a package of pictures taken with the XDA II and video clips and e-mail you them to allow you to see the sort of quality this unit produces.
Also included is a desktop charger and cradle which doubles up to connect the device to a PC which is a dream. Synchronization (sp?) is quick and copying files between the two units is fast, but I do have USB 2.0, but I couldn`t say if the device is a USB 2.0 device or not.

also i presume the sound is stereo ? i only ask as i was going to buy a 6600 at weekend but have since found out it`s only mono despite being a newer model than the n gage (which is excellent) as for what i want it for, to be honest i just really like gadget`s and i`ve had my n gage nearly 2 months and it`s time for a change :D
thanks in advance

He got it from 02 shop in Glasgow the offer was only available in store. Might be worth poping in to your local o2 shop and asking about the deal.
Not sure of the manufacturer of the phone/palm top but it only supplys to 02 as far as i know.
Ogster,
I have a zip file of a few files (surprisingly!) and am just wondering where to mail it?
If you mail me through Reviewer, then I`ll attach it to an email and send it over. It might be greater than 1mb so don`t know aobut Hotmail, Yahoo! etc!

cheer`s for the offer, but i`ve had a look around and can`t really justify buying one (yet) till the prices come down a bit :(
