AOL Question.. Is there any way I can...........?
I have AOL Broadband at home, parents choice not mine, and am getting a bit annoyed with the AOL browser. Is there anyway I can connect through AOL then close the browser without it disconnecting?

I use AOL 8.0 on a dial up connection, which could work differently to broadband, but I simply minimise the window to keep AOL connected in the background and then use IE or Opera.

You don`t have to use their browser, but it does need to be open... just minimise it and use IE, Firefox(aka: Firebird). Whatever.:)
RE: AOL Question.. Is there any way I can...........?
I do that at the moment but it still uses a lot if system resources by leaving it open..

The new Version 9 software thats about to be launched will do this.
You can dial in to AOL over TCP/IP or Dial Up and not have to have the whole version of the sofware running and being memory resident.
I`ve been Beta Testing it and it`s very good.

Why on earth do they force you to use their software anyway? :/ I`ve used several ISPs and I`ve never had to install any special software or use a specific browser.

is there a beta download anywhere? Will I have to pay anything for version 9 when it is released?
