I was feeling so smug too......

...until I pressed OK!

I, being a tech no hoper, thought I was doing the right thing installing a pop-up washer, Spy Sweeper and Windows Washer. The first two worked great but the last one wiped everything! My fault for not reading the install instructions - I tend to skim the stuff I should read and press `yes` too quickly.

Anyhow, after doing a system restore (I didn`t keep a backup and I know I should have done `that thing` whereby you can reboot from a certain recent date - am I making any sense?) I am now wondering if it`s possible to retrieve any info I have lost? I don`t mind paying to get it done but will there be anything to retrieve? I have (had :( ) a few short stories and illustrations I hadn`t put on disc.

Cheers for any advice :)

You shouldn`t have lost any of `YOUR` data.
Restore takes the system, programs etc. back but doesn`t touch your documents.
Aaaah, I see what you mean.. you did a system restore as in `back to factory`? There are things around that can recover stuff and equally, if you pay enough there are companies who are specialists in data recovery (££££), but I`ve tried these things straight after deleting data and didn`t have any success.. So after a complete re-install, I doubt trying it yourself you`ll have much joy :-(

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

I did a re-format and re-installed everything a while back and forgot i had some photo`s of my sons birth on the hard drive.I was gutted, I searched high and low for a recovery prog to get the pics back and found one called digital pic recovery , tried the demo and it found the pics, paid my money for the full version so i could save the recovered files and was well happy, so there is hope for you yet...
All you have to do is find the correct progs for the type of files you want to recover.

Try this i`ve used it many times.
May take a while but it`s worth it ;) .

Define irony: a bunch of idiots dancing around on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.
