Page 1 of windows 98 key lost

I`ve lost the key to Win 98 cd and have already dumped the contents of my HDD so can`t reinstall win 98.

Does anyone know of a way out of this?

Yep, search on Google and get a pirated key. Just going to Google Groups and putting in "win98" "cd key" got me some working keys.

It`s naughty of course, but I don`t see that you have any other choice. You have a legal copy of Windows 98 that you can`t use, and Microsoft aren`t exactly going to give you a new key because you`ve "lost" yours... :(

I`ll think you`ll find the bit that makes it legal is the key - this is your license to use the software. Whether you have the disk or not makes no difference - it`s the license from the front of the manual or a sticker on the side of machine that gives you the right to use it.

Anyhoo - I`m just pointing out a legality, not preaching about dodgy software :D Win98 is so old now, you`d think they`d give it away anyway!
