Bittorrent and XP

Connor (Competent) posted this on Friday, 11th June 2004, 18:33

Hi,

I am having trouble with bittorrent. The torrents start downloading fine and soon are using a good chunk of my bandwith. After about 5-10 minutes xp starts to freeze for about 6 seconds at a time and each time it comes back to life the bandwith goes down until eventually the torrent stops and I then loose my connection to the net altogether. I have to reboot the machine to get back on. I am using bittorando software at the moment but have tried several ones and they all do the same. Pc spec is 384mb ram amd athalon xp 2400 if that should make any difference.

any ideas as its got me stumped.

Try shareaza or shadows experimental. And try uninstalling all BT software (clients and the original protocol).

Other than that im stumped too!

Hi, Sorted it myself.

Update your network card drivers.
If that doesn`t work, go to Prefs, Advanced, and reduce "Max peer connections" to 60 or below. I had to drop them to 45 before its stable.
