Page 1 of Unknown download on XP
PCs & Mobiles Forum
HI there,
I wonder if someone can answer this queston I have, for a while now I`ve noticed that evertime I use the internet using Windows XP a little icon appears on the right hand part of my taskbar(near the clock and stuff). The icon appears to depict a computer in the foreground and a peice of paper with text on it in the background.
When i click on this item a small window pops up saying antivirus download monitor , in the window itself is a message saying "downloading from FTP site ftpav.ca.com" and a percentage indicator.
If i cancel the download it dissapears only to come back about half an hour later. If a let the download complete it also dissapears but nothing else happens.
Anyway enough rambling, my queston is does anyone know what this is or has experienced it themselves.
Thanks for reading
Rob

Do you have Computer Associates antivirus or anything from them on your PC?
Ca.com appears to be Computer Associates domain.
Or it could be e-Trust antivirus, which is the home users version.

It`s the scheduled downloaded for virus definitions for Computer Associates anti-virus software.
Either eTrust antivirus (which is the one that tends to be used on corporate networks - formerly known as InoculateIT), or EZ Antivirus - which Microsoft had teemed up with CA to provide free for one year.
is my systemtray showing eTrust running (the blue and yellow heart trace icon), and the downloader showing on the far left.
