Anyone got an Orange SPV C500? Topic widened a little to 3G...
I`m interested in getting one as a replacement for my brick-like Nokia 3650...I know there are new smart Nokia`s out with Symbian 6 OS but the Orange is a Smartphone and a great size (hoping to start a new job soon where I`ll be out and about a lot so size is an issue) ...
I HAVE to be able to have real mp3 ringtones out of my phone - polyphonic just doesn`t cut it for me - does anyone know if the C500 has this ability? Also, can you record video through the camera lense?
Thanks

RE: Anyone got an Orange SPV C500?
The handset doesn`t play MP3 as ringtones, but does play WAV and WMA - so easily converted (just bigger files).
Does have a mini SD chip though(16mb tester supplied but most bods buy 512MB chips with adapters so you can load direct through your PC) Chip is located under the battery, which can be a bugbear, but it`s safer than a slot IMHO. Can`t remember the camera details, but on the few shots I`ve done the quiality is good say 8/10). Sound is great and some deals now can give you the handset for £30 after a year of cashback cheques on Orange.
It`s a very nice little package and there`s loads of stuff on the web - for more info go here.

I think the camera`s 640x480.
I have a quick question. Where is it for £30 on cashback?

At the carphone warehouse. Free phone and 11 months free line rental (on cashback). Thus only £30 for a year!

I had a look at that. However, I have heard they are s***ty for cashback. Plus the free texts are more useful to me. Unfortunately this deal isn`t availible at e2save otherwise I would be there like a shot(in the first 6 months you get 1000 free texts whatever the deal).

Thanks for the replies guys...
One further question...given the 3G Vodaphone launch and imminent Orange service too, do you think it`s wise to buy a phone that isn`t capable of the "latest" technology - even though it`s a smartphone...?
I`ve seen 3 other phones, the Nokia 6630, the Motorola E1000 and the Samsung SDH-D500 - all 3G phones of half-decent size (not complete bricks) but none of them are Windows-based smartphones as far as I`m aware, just Symbian or similar...
Thoughts appreciated...

I think what you have to ask yourself is whether you are going to use the 3G features. I know I wouldn`t. Consequently I`m just going to stick with the old technology.
However, if you are interested in the D500, have a look at this thread.
