Anyone else running Microsoft`s beta AntiSpyware program ?

Chode (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 27th February 2005, 15:29

Just curious, but since loading it, my pc has twice asked me to put in the Microsoft disc`s for other Microsoft programs on the pc, not giving access to them until I did.

Ok, I admit it, I have a Phillips DVDR70 (dons hard hat and jumps in bunker ready for incoming verbal abuse!)

( I know I`m getting old, but I really must proof read what the heck I type on the keyboard before posting, and then again, and again, and again and...)

:/ Running it here and not been asked for any discs, but then I only have MS windows. I`m not using thier office suite or anything else MS.

Of course it could be because it has found a problem and needed the original disks to fix it. That would mean its working I guess.

I`ve been using SpyWare Beta since launch and have both XP and Office Professional. Not been asked for any discs as yet.

Maybe as the other post says its bcause problems were found in the registry which could be resolved by reinstalling from the source discs?

Same as the others, I`ve had it running for ages and the only thing I`ve had is the popups saying the definitions have been upgraded.

It could be that you downloaded one of the new xp updates.

Can`t remember which one it is now but once you have it you will start downloading office updates also, and this is the problem, office updates do sometimes ask you to put the original disk in, just to prove that you do have a copy and didn`t just borrow from a friend. :B

All the best

Yep. thats it, I`m on auto update. I found too many probs when I just down loaded a load at one go. This way if something plays up I just system restore back to when it was ok.
