Page 1 of help needed my dvd-rom refuses to play dvds

hi can anyone help me
im running a samsung sd-606f dvd-rom and for some reason it has stoped playng dvds it will play audio cd`s and cd-rom games o.k but not dvds it just spins in the drive
ive just tried a system restore but that does not help

Had a simular problem with my CD-ROM, would read a data disk no problem but forget audio.... no chance! Id say try one of those disk cleaners, failing that but a new one... cheap enough. Amazon have dvd writers on the cheap if you fancy an upgrade.

About now im having amnesia and deja vu. I think Ive forgotten this before :D

I had the same problem with one of my PC`s. As well as Cd`s it would still read data (mp3`s jpegs etc) saved on to a DVD+RW.

I came to the conclusion it was the DVD Player software and not the DVD-Rom that was the problem. Assuming you have the DVD Player software on a disc you could do the same as me and Uninstall the software and then reinstall it again. This worked for me.
