Sky Broadband?

ste_p0270 (Elite Donator) posted this on Wednesday, 19th July 2006, 19:32

Hi Guys

i (like many) have had the gumph from Sky regarding the broadband package they
are offering.

seems to be good value, with the "Base" 2 Meg package being free (2GB cap though), the "Mid" package 8 Meg (40 GB limit) being £5 and the "Max" package 16 Meg with
unlimited fair useage restriction, being £10 per month.

i`m interested in the "mid" level package for £5 a month which makes my 2 Meg BY
connection seem very expensive by comparison.

does anyone use the Sky BB package themselves? if so, is it any good?

oh, and do you require a BT line to use it?

any answers / opinions much appreciated.

thanks.

Hi does anyone know if this is going to be available in the Republic Of Ireland? I`m getting my hopes up as we don`t have a good broadband provider here.

delboy, go to www.sky.com and locate the broadband tab. you can enter your postal
code to check for availability from there.

Thanks, went on and unfortunately its not available in the Republic Of Ireland but they do offer €35 off a Sky+ box or €75 of a HD one so we don`t feel disappointed, I have HD already so no good to me.

i got this too, and the price seems real good - but the cap on the base one is too low.
but £5 with a 40 gb cap - u can`t go wrong.
In the blurb i got it says they can offer the mid package in my area - so i`m gonna find out more.
mainly cos im with tiscali. [say no more] also there telephone call thingy looks a good deal [sky talk]

I think they will do well. Even after paying for the break clause in my current Broadband package, I will save money before that contract would have run out.

I think this is the death knell for a lot of smaller ISPs. Unless the performance and customer service are outrageously bad, I cant see a single reason to continue with Plus.Net, the traffic managing tight arses.

LOL :D

tbh, i`m happy with my blueyonder service and would continue to use it. but...if this
sky broadband turns out to be as good as it is cheap, then telewest will have to pull
something special out of the bag to retain my loyalty. i`ve been with them for around
5 years or so now, but loyalty counts for nothing if i`m getting fleeced every month.
