XP MEDIA CENTER OR VISTA HOME PREMIUM! ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!

gingaman (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 17th May 2007, 09:53

Hi im thinking about buying the dell laptop below, but cant decide on whether to go for xp media center or vista home premium :/ , as you have a choice for the same price of £499 delivered.
ive read that the vista is quite ram hungry! which puts me off a bit, but im not sure if to go for the xp?
does anyone know when the support for xp will finish e.g updates etc?

would the laptop run slower with the vista version compared to the xp?

any advice much appreciated.

thanks paul

go for the xp media centre.

Vista is still a bit of a mess and it takes a while to re download all your progs. games don`t work well either.

I would stick with XP Media Centre for now until Vista gets all of its problems sorted out. My new computer came with a Vista upgrade offer which I installed a couple of weeks ago. After suffering from endless blue screens and software problems I reinstalled XP Media Centre. When a big revision/update of Vista comes out which it surely will, I will go back to it as I quite liked the interface. Apart from looks I didn`t really see any difference with XP apart from the fact that XP is far more stable of course.
