Page 1 of MacBook owners...

Nearly bought one yesterday (had to resist before I could find out when my student friend could come along).
I`m looking at the 13" version...and reckon that the black one definitely looks nicer. It seems the white laptop will probably look yellow after a few month`s use.
Anyone have an opinion on the white/black Macbooks? Is the Black one worth the price premium? Does the white one discolour?
Also - apparently the AppleCare package works out as £57 for a student! And I`ve been told it is transferrable, so I can pay for it in the student`s name and then transfer to myself.
Heading down there tomorrow evening to make the purchase.

No the black one isn`t worth the price premium! I don`t know whether you`re interested in the extra expense, but a new Macbook Pro will apparently be unveiled later this month as well.
Oh, and the Macbook`s are lovely.

The white one is awesome. I got the bottom of the range one as I only use the internal HDD for apps, I never burn dual layer DVDs and RAM is more important than processor speed for all the things I do, so I just stuffed a load of memory in it.
Its f***ing brilliant. I had a G5 and a dell laptop on my desk, now the Macbook has replaced both of them.
And its so dinky!
However, I dont know if its because im excessively hairy, but it seems to attract pubes like nobodies business.

You should stop being naked around it then.

Thanks Nick :D
My wife is always on at me for my leg hairs (at least I hope they`re from my legs!) getting everywhere.
Ben - not really interested in the pros, mainly because of the size. I like the idea of a 13" small laptop.
Still not convinced about the white one though. Just looks a bit toy town `ish!!
It does look like a fisher price my first laptop, but, on the other hand it makes a `THIS IS AN APPLE` statement unlike anything else, which adds more cool points than it takes away, if that kind of thing bothers you.
The size of the thing, as I say, is perfect. I take it everywhere and it has a good battery life. Unlike the 17" which is too big to carry around and is more of a desktop replacement.

Actually, one question...is the keyboard backlit on yours Nick?
I know it is on the pros...but not sure on the smaller ones.
EDIT: Just googled it and found the answer is no.
Shame, since its a nice feature...but not worth me looking at a bigger 15" Macbook Pro though.
Thanks

No. The only thing that lights up, other than the screen, is the little apple thing on the case.
It is a bit annoying, but its not a huge issue, especially since the keyboard on my MBP randomly sets itself to be brighter than the sun.

i`m also looking at getting the 13" model later this year so i`m glad to hear the good reports :) as for worrying about discolouration, i can only compare it to my 7yr old white & graphite ibook y3 clamshell, & as that still looks Daz white i`m not to worried :)

Have seen a picture of the MBP on top of the MB and the size difference doesn`t appear that much.
Now I`m debating whether I should be really looking at the 15" MBP as an option. :/
Black MB - £965 (incl Applecare & mini-DVI adapter)
15" MBP basic - £1252 (incl Applecare).
Perhaps I should take my 15" Dell laptop down there as a size comparison. Have to buy one tonight or I`m never gonna get round to it.
f[at]kc it, since I don`t really need a new laptop I`ll stick with the 13" version. If I need a bigger screen I`ll plug it in to my 17" LCD monitor.
