DVD Backup Question

butters (Elite) posted this on Monday, 1st December 2008, 19:12

Hi, if I make a backup dvd to about 3.8GB and add a 700MBish .avi file onto the disc would it still play in a stand alone dvd player or is the avi file gonna mess up the playback.

thanks

It would be ok for pc as you can just choose either the avi or the dvd files to view but a standalone would spit it out and say no thank you..

I`m not so sure actually. As long as the DVD has the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder (not always necessary but should be there for maximum compatibility), another file just `sitting` there may just be ignored.?.. Certainly by some players? What have you got to lose by trying it? Besides a disc..

In theory it "should" work, much like those DVDs where you get additional content on your PC, a standalone player "should" ignore what it doesn`t understand.
