I wouldn`t upgrade to remedy a potential technical issue, I would contact Virgin through their support forums on Usenet. You need to qualify your speed tests though. Most of the speed test sites on the web are wildly inaccurate. You will need to download several files simultaneously from reliable sources to get an accurate reading. Virgin recommend using their own servers for this (it used to be gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk, which might still work). On 10Mbps you should be getting around 1.2MBs down combined (remember that they advertise in megabits, not megabytes). 20Mbps gives me a max of 2.4Mbps, but the speed has dropped noticeably for me for the last two evenings for some inexplicable reason. Personally I think it`s because they`re now traffic shaping bittorrent traffic, but it affected all of my services until I turned torrents off...

Ive been downloading a few music tracks at the same time and the must i got was 425mbs and it took nearly 5mins to download one track.

I ran a few speed test via speedtest last nite every 30mins from 19:00 till 22.30 and the highest i got was 4209 and the lowest was 1398?

Cud it be due to the modem i have a motorola sb4200?
