iPhone users - don`t upgrade to 4.3.3

Looks like this is killing the battery (again!)

I`ve lost 30% of my battery today (with airplane mode switched on and only touched it twice in 3 hours to look at the battery usage!).

Thread about it here:

I may have to try restoring and setting up as new (meaning I lose all the Angry Birds etc. scores :()

Not a problem for me since CRapple no longer support my trusty 3G :(

It`s not doing it for me this time thankfully. Though the last firmware I had this problem with the issue went away after a few weeks, or maybe I just stopped launching an app that triggered the drain. :/

Also maybe worth charging to 100% and running down all the way so the battery is properly calibrated.

I always find it incredible these days that any "upgrade" to firmware seems to be buggy as hell, not just the iPhone but most products.

I feel for ya Miles, but just think of the satisfaction of starting Angry Birds all over again and finding all those Golden Eggs :D
(Or that OmNom chomping at you in Cut The Rope ;) )

Side point.. guessing you`d know this anyway, but wouldn`t iTunes keep the Apps at their current status if you backed it up to a PC/Laptop and maybe held the backup until either the firmware was "fixed" or somone came up with a way to keep your scores etc?

I`m pretty sure when you restore from a backup, iTunes restores all your game data and settings, so I don`t think you lose anything.

My thoughts too, so if Miles needs to wipe the phone out with an older backup/restore to default, then once they issue a "new" upgrade to cure the problem I was thinking he could first restore this new backup then upgrade.

Means in between he`s without his high scores etc but they`d not be gone for good.

The `solution` being proposed for the issue I`m getting is to set up as a new iPhone (not from a backup).

So you do lose the saved game data.
However, apparently there`s a way to back it up and restore manually which I`ll be investigating this evening ;)

It does seem that it`s not everyone who gets this, but it`s common enough.

Strangely enough, after giving it a boost charge at mid-day it`s now been on 100% for the last 1.5 hours :/

If I can back up and restore that app data, then I`ll do a fresh install anyway.

Looks like the app "iPhoneExplorer" on the Mac is able to browse and copy the application settings.
The PC version doesn`t seem to work for me though.

I`m going to back up the normal way (through iTunes) and also copy all the App settings.
Then I`m going to set up as a new phone - sync down everything (again) then re-apply the settings for the apps I want.
Hopefully that`ll sort it.

I`ll let you know how it goes :D

It works folks :D

Angry Birds levels, stars, scores etc. restored successfully.

Unfortunately Cover Orange backup didn`t actually work properly. So I`ll need to back this one up, restore to the earlier backup, then re-extract the data, restore to the `new` backup and re-apply the data....if I want them back.
TBH - it`s not really worth the hassle is it! :D

Oof :/

I`m not sure why that happens to some apps, maybe there are different versions on your phone when you backed it up and your itunes folder? Did you Transfer Purchases before backing up?
