30 years of the Amstrad CPC 464 and Sinclair QL

A friend of mine at school had a CPC 464...

Didn't seem to have as many good games as the speccy, in fact I never saw any at the time that turned my head and made me want one. Apparently Dizzy started out on the Amstrad though.

I might get one one day, if they are really cheap on ebay, and I come across a must play list of games, and I'm very bored!

Another thing I wanted at the time but thankfully couldn't afford was the Sinclair QL:

I have one now, I need to make up a cable for it so I can copy software back to the system as the microdrive carts that came with it are a bit gone.

Amstrad CPC 464 was my first computer, think I was about 6 at the time and I'm 31 now - gaming is still my favourite hobby but work means I can't play as much as I did back then sadly.

Great memories of playing Oh Mummy, Detective, Hunchback and Dizzy.

my  mates had 464s, I got a 6128, built in floppy drive, and my parents bought a tape recorder to plug into it, so I could play the 1.99 games, rather than just the 14.99 discs :)

Is the 6128 backwardly compatible with the 464?

I'll know who to bug if I get one then. ;)

Yes and because it has more memory some games it would load more levels at a time off tape.
Mine with colour monitor is in my parents' loft :)

I had the Sinclair QL, hooked up to a Silver Reed electronic typewriter as a printer.  Did the first drafts of five novels on it for the Enterprise Allowance Scheme in 1986.  Then had the devil's own time transferring the data to an Atari ST a couple of years later.

Happy times.

In case anyone still has their Amstrad (or an emulator) and likes the idea of new games...

Impressive demo:

I did get a 6128 in the end but not got the time yet to rewire a cable so I can plug it into a monitor and power it.
