Page 1 of Apple Watch 3 screen popped out

I do love Apple's stuff, but they really need to do better when it comes to warranty repairs...

Last year, my iPhone 6S was suffering from the publicised battery issue, Apple took it in to replace the battery for free, and then because of the tiniest of damage to the screen said that had to be replaced too and wanted to charge me about £150.

After arguing, a nice man at the repair place agreed it should just be repaired free of charge because the only reason it was in for repair was the battery, the screen was fine, and the only reason the screen had to be replaced at all was because of the faulty battery.


Last Sunday, my Apple Watch 3 screen just popped up, now I feel like I'm in deja vu. :( The people on the support chat for Apple are always really nice and helpful, they arrange a return (it's not even a year old yet), and now the repair centre says the screen is cracked and want me to pay £235.37 + tax!

The screen just cracked and popped up on it's own, I was walking from the kitchen to the living room after boiling the kettle. I wasn't exactly mountaineering!!!

There is a 30 page thread (and probably growing) on the Apple forums with people who had the same problem, all saying they were basically inactive when it just happened, and that Apple wanted to charge them all for a repair:

So annoying, I now have to argue with them for something they should just be fixing, it's a defective product under warranty.

I banged through a fitbit surge and it's replacement in a couple of years. Not great these smartwatches.

I was on my third Fitbit Surge in one year when I decided to just give up and get an Apple Watch instead, thinking that'd be a lot better. :(

As a smart watch and fitness tracker... it is a lot better, but this crack came out of nowhere.

Im really surprised tbh, my experience has been exactly the opposite, generally they have been excellent, even back to my iPhone 6 i think it was maybe the 5 which i bought 2nd hand it died on me (can't remember the exact details) I took it into the apple shop and the guy said its 15 months old so out of warranty but we will replace it free of charge, when i had battery problems with my apple watch 1 about a year ago well past its warranty period again they replaced it free of charge and i got it in 4 days from the birmingham store!

Arrrgh, I can't even argue with someone about it because when I click the link to take action I get a 403 Forbidden error.

All that cash in the bank and they can't afford to just repair things where there is remotely any doubt about warranty coverage, or have a working website. :(

They are refusing to replace it, the only way I'll get a replacement is if I pay a stupid amount of money. Their warranty doesn't cover it breaking through light use within a year.

This ended up with me filing a small claim against them, the hearing is this Tuesday. If I lose it and have to pay the other side's costs, this whole thing will have cost me nearly £2k.
