i might run a proper disk check tool on it tomorrow see what it says

ran a couple of tools last night, one said to backup and buy a new one, the other said nothing to worry about!

i managed to copy all the files off it i need which is the main thing

computers been working fine, but a few times this evening when browsing would just go unresponsive to anything for a few secs.....

It does sound like it's dying :(

Windows Update can really thrash the disk with writes so it all fits. :/

73 now, so slowly creeping up, but for the most part still usable, i just make sure each night anything new is on usb stick on in cloud until I see an ssd on hukd I'm happy to buy before my hand is forced.

seems like whenever a "good deal" is posted they're the older ones without on board memory, which would not have been an issue if I hadn't known about it being an issue ;)

I've got an old work laptop I can use if this one does suddenly die, and can ask the girls nicely if I can borrow theirs while they're not Robloxing

No matter what you get, the performance will be light years ahead of what's in there now.
It's all so much easier to clone it when it's working that starting again from scratch once it's failed.
