Hi,

i was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I`m from Portugal and i ordered some dvd from cdwow. Do you know if i have to pay any taxes or something like that? They say it`s free shipment but i have may doubts! Thanks for any help you can give me!

Delivery is free worldwide for any of their items, no matter how many you order or how much you spend. However, you must be careful about your country`s import duty limits (in the UK, it`s 18 pounds, it might be different in Portugal) - if you spent more than that on the DVD, you may be hit by import duty, sales tax ("VAT" in the UK) and even a postal handling charge.

Slightly off-topic, but UK folks must remember that although some of the cheapest sites selling Region 2 discs advertise in UK sterling, they`re not necessarily based in mainland UK (play.com and cdwow.com have to be the two biggest examples that aren`t UK mainland-based), so you are risking the extra charges if your order totals 18 pounds sterling or more.

I`ve ordered things from amazon.co.uk that were more expensive than the one i bought from cdwow and i only had to pay the final bill in amazon, didn`t have to pay nothing when it arrived. Do you think this means we don`t have an import limit over here and that i won`t have to pay nothing more? Thanks for helping me and sorry about the silly questions!

Since both Portugal and the UK are in the EU (CD-Wow is based in the UK rather than the Channel Islands, I think?), there should be no taxes or duties to pay on any goods bought in one EU country and shipped to another.

Er,,,I think,,almost sure, that CDWOW are actually based Here in the UK,,,just up the road almost from me,,,they`re in Bucks.,,They just import their DVDs/CDs from the pressing plants in the far east,,,,Play do this also,,but they are based in Jersey.,,Both are VERY good reliable companies to deal with,,I use them a lot :) . I have just tried DVDPopcorn,,,just to test them out,,,,,I wont be Using Them again >:( !!!!!!!!!,,,I should have stuck to who I know,,,but we live and learn!!
