Celtic: Invincibles 2016-2017

Well what an amazing season, and on the 50th Anniversary of the Lisbon Lions makes it all the more remarkable. This season Celtic finished unbeaten in all domestic games and won the Treble, most points ever, most wins ever, most goals ever and given that Rodgers really added 2 players to the 1st team, Moussa Dembele and Trevor Sinclair it was the improvement he made in players already at the club, notably Boyata, Forrest who was on his way out and refusing to sign a new contract, Brown our captain who last year looked to be finished with constant injuries and looked a yard off the pace, McGregor who is unlucky not to have been called up for the national squad.

All this after the worst result in the Clubs history against Lincon imps, A seven nil drubbing at the hands of Barcelona the season didn't look promising but it finished as one of the finest in our history, the added bonus is when we didn't win with flair and attacking football the team showed grit, determination and work ethic which showed in the cup final when aberdeen to their credit really brought the fight.

Whilst no one can deny the achievement, but my first thought was about the weakness of the opposition...

Expected that to be fair, but every team has an off day, or a bad decision etc etc and even when we had that worked our socks off and got bye and as i said in previous post it is all down to Rodgers who has to take the credit, fitness too shone through as i think we scored 20 + goals in the last 10 minutes and 10 + in the last 5 and injury time.....anyway a season that will not be forgotten in a hurry :)

Can't really complain at beating whatever is put in front of you and the record books will rightly show a record winning season...

Did I read the table right, 38 games played? How does that work with 12 teams in the league? :o

We play each team 3 times (33) then the league is split into top half of six and a bottom half of 6. You then play another 5 games and this gives you the 38. Although usually ends up with the team in 7th having more points than the team in 6th 🙄

Exactly the same teams who have always been challenging for honours ;)

The chairmen of ALL clubs had the chance to radically change football for the better but phuqen shat it :( They merely used the vote on reconstruction to phuq all the lower league teams by offering them play offs. Play offs where the SPL team are heavy favourites to retain their top flight status. Another wee gem was that after the votes , a week or so, they informed all clubs that 50% of play off money would go directly to the SPL . Therefore the Championship teams are contributing directly to the parachute payment of the team who finish bottom. Lovely fair and balanced organisation. FFS I thought FOX News and O`Reilly were bad
