Earlier today, the BBC announced a number of new shows, including a three-part series based on H.G. Wells’ novel The War of the Worlds. The show is scheduled to go into production next spring, and it appears that, unlike most modern adaptations, it will be set in the Victorian era.

Sounds excellent, as I love BBC dramas, and it being Si fi this time, will be all the better.

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell which I have on DVD, was well acted, and the visuals and special effects brilliant, so glad to hear its the same scriptwriter who will be used on this new adaptation of War of the Worlds.

Can't wait

Maybe it's like The Dark Side of the Moon and Alice in Wonderland, you just need to put it on the turntable and sync it with the start of the movie? :)

Always wanted to see a version closer to the book. The juxtaposition of aliens against Victorian technology/mindset really adds to that idea of puny humans with no idea what's about to hit them.

Rafe Spall, naturally. He's come a long way since Shaun of the Dead.

Speaking of syncing DSotM and the Wizard of Oz......apparently you can watch any Dominic Cummings interview to The Cuckoo Waltz for much the same effect.

Having now payed the trailer...... it's official..... I'm afeared!
