During a long and hazardous journey, the closer he gets to his destination, the more terrified are the people he meets. What he finds when he reached Orlok`s sinister castle is enough to make the flesh of the most devoted horror fan creep. <newline> <newline>On first release the critics were divided and the paying public were often bewildered by the director`s brilliant use of time and space distortion in this unparelled horror masterpiece. It was the very first film to be based on the Dracula character created by Bram Stoker. Names were changed and the location switched from Transylvania to the city of Bremen, but the Stoke estate, who had not given permission for the film recognised the similarites and sued the films German producers. An English judge ordered that all copies of the film to be destroyed and the negative burned. Fortunately, the order was not enforceable in Germany and so a print survived.Interactive Menus <newline>Scene Access <newline>Commentary Track <newline>Trailer of `Shadow Of The Vampire` <newline>Special Footage (Narrative depiction of supplementary images of original sketches, artworks and postcards - basis for film production; theatrical posters of the time) <newline>Origins of Vampires <newline>Nosferatu`s controversy <newline>Sepia & Black and White versions1290 mins£19.99Standard 1.33:1Dolby Digital 5.1 (simulated)F.W. A Symphony of HorrorAn iconic film of the German expressionist cinema, and one of the most famous of all silent movies, F. W. Murnau[apost]s [apost]Nosferatu. A Symphony of Horror[apost] continues to haunt — and, indeed, terrify — modern audiences with the unshakable power of its images. By teasing a host of occult atmospherics out of dilapidated set-pieces and innocuous real-world locations alike, Murnau captured on celluloid the deeply-rooted elements of a waking nightmare, and launched the signature "Murnau-style" that would change cinema history forever. <newline> <newline>In this first-ever screen adaptation of Bram Stoker[apost]s [apost]Dracula[apost], a simple real-estate transaction leads an intrepid businessman deep into the superstitious heart of Transylvania. There he encounters the otherworldly Count Orlok — portrayed by the legendary Max Schreck — who soon after embarks upon a cross-continental voyage to take up residence in a distant new land... <newline> <newline>F. W. Murnau[apost]s surreal 1922 cine-fable remains the original and landmark entry in the entire global tradition of "the horror film". The [apost]Masters of Cinema[apost] Series is proud to present, at long last, [apost]Nosferatu. A Symphony of Horror[apost] in its definitive restoration, complete with original intertitles and accompanied by the score that played with the film at the time of its initial release.Audio Commentary <newline>The Language of Shadows documentary <newline>80 Page BookPG93£22.9919/11/20071.37:1Dolby Digital 5.1Dolby Digital 2.0EnglishF.W.
