Review of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

    3 / 10

    Introduction

A small boy, Justin Carver, wakes up late one night and sees his Mom kissing Santa Claus. Worried that this could lead to divorce and an unhappy Christmas he decides to get onto Santa`s naughty list and make sure he never visits the house again.

Along with picking on the local Mall Santa and asking advice from his hero Captain Titanium Justin thinks he almost cracked the threat from Santa but on Christmas Eve he decides to mount a last ditch defence…

Justin is played by the Sprouse twins; Cole and Dylan. I couldn`t tell them apart but then I was holding my head in my hands most of the time.

Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law) is Justin`s dad, he must have been very, very naughty to be in this film.

    Video

Somehow in the incredibly short time between showing this on TV and putting it on DVD it seems to have acquired dirt on the picture. At this point I decided it was less like a Christmas film and more like an April Fool.

The "crowded Christmas Mall" described by Granddad had about ten people in it. Santa and his elves were three of them. This film reeks of low production values and a `don`t care` attitude. The snow was real but continuity between snow-levels is fairly hopeless. In fact continuity seems to be an optional extra all round

    Audio

It is a real shame that this film had any sound at all as the budget regrettably doesn`t include a script or any music that should ever be played out loud. I didn`t think Christmas music could be as bad as this, I was prepared to be generous after the previous two efforts from Prism but this is just taking the Mickey.

    Features

Just the trailers thankfully. That`s worth a bonus point.

    Conclusion

Oh dear, oh dear lets hope some well-meaning grandparents don`t commit the ultimate present faux-pas by allowing themselves to purchase these for the kiddies.

Funnily enough the title didn`t necessarily incite a sense of doom in me as it should have. Hamstrung by the budget, script and the added bear-trap of a small child this film is the equivalent of getting egg-nog when you wanted a drink.

A no-hope sub-plot about a Santa whom the small child vents his anger on, a mother and father rather falls flat, in every sense.

Please don`t buy this film because Christmas is not a time for sharing this kind of drivel with your nearest and dearest. They may never speak to you again.
