A horribly overrated movie. It is neither thrilling, nor interesting.
While Brad Pitt`s performance is very good, the script lacks some key elements such as continuity and simple logic.
The video transfer is ordinary. The movie is not spectacular to watch, but the transfer showed no compression marks at all.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is ok, but again, not spectacular.
    The menus are all static.
The extras include a commentary and a long behind the scenes featurette. Alas, even the good extras cannot save this movie.
Bottom line - an average minus movie that got way too much attention.

The film reflects the fears and concerns of our time. Consider the link between this film`s premise and the idea that the deadly AIDS virus somehow originated with monkeys.

Ultimately, the film paints a bleak picture of the world`s future. The twelve monkeys turn out to be a wild goose chase and nothing can be done about the humanity destroying virus. The apocalypse ends up being invevitable and can`t be stopped (even by a guy named J.C. who had doves flying over his head).

12 Monkeys seems to be one of those movies that people either love or hate...hardly anybody says "It was alright." I`m one of the people who loves it. I love Gilliam`s twisted vision of that particular future, and his cold treatment of that future`s past. So, if you`re like me in that you think the film is great, this is a DVD not to be missed.

With unforgettable performances and imaginative special effects, 12 Monkeys is a modern-day classic laced with Gilliam`s trademark with and dazzling visual style."
