Considered by many to be director Alfred Hitchcock`s greatest achievement comes this fully restored and remastered version of the haunting film classic. This special release also contains a restoration trailer and revealing documentary footage.
Set in San Francisco, James Stewart portrays an acrophobic detective hired to trail a friend`s suicidal wife. After he successfully rescues her from a leap into the bay, he finds himself becoming obsessed with the beautifully troubled woman.
One of cinema`s most chillingly romantic endeavors - it`s a fascinating myriad of haunting camera angles shot among some of San Francisco`s renowned landmarks. Your Opinions and Comments
This DVD is the result of a two year painstaking restoration of the original print negatives. Believe me when I tell you, that this film looks NEW. It`s almost a work of art in itself.
The DVD contains a lot of extras too. There is a documentary regarding the making of the film, how Hitchcock was obsessed in getting every minor detail correct. There is also the story of the restoration of the film, and interviews with the surviving cast members.
There is also lenghty biographies of the cast and crew, and also the alternate ending which was made for some European countries where it was actually not allowed for the bad guy to get away at the end!
If you love film get this DVD - it`s shaped so much cinema that we take for granted these days.
