Synopsis:
Join the action-packed adventure of a group of dinosaurs overcoming enormous challenges through courage, loyalty and hope in Disney`s Dinosaur, a special effects phenomenon!
Set 65 million years ago, Dinosaur tells the compelling story of Aladar, an iguanodon who is separated from his own species and raised on an island paradise by a clan of lemurs, including the wisecracking Zini and the compassionate Plio. When a devastating meteor shower plunges their world into chaos, Aladar and his family follow a herd of dinosaurs heading for the safety of the "nesting grounds." Along the way, Aladar befriends Baylene, an elderly brachiosuar; Eema, an unstoppable styrachosaur; and Neera, a feisty fellow iguanodon. Together, they must stand strong amidst food and water shortages, the threat of carnotaur attacks, and Aladar`s run-ins with the herd`s stubborn leader, Kron.
A landmark in filmmaking technology, Dinosaur`s theatrical quality is fully captured in this DVD, which features a digital-to-digital transfer that ensures the best possible picture and sound quality!

Your Opinions and Comments
This movie does exactly the opposite than other dinosaurs movie do. It actually makes the dinosaurs (well, at least some of them) the good guys.
The video transfer is awesome. One can notice that the movie was created from the digital source. Obviously, there are no compression signs at all. The animation is mind blowing. The makers of the movie managed to seamlessly blend CG animation, hand-drawn backgrounds and actual shots of mother nature. The meteor hit scene is very impressive.
The movie also includes a fullscreen version. While it`S good looking it`s nothing compared to the widescreen version.
The DTS and DD 5.1 soundtracks are both very good. There is a good usage of the surrounds and the sub is constantly emitting VERY low frequency sounds. Unlike most other Disney movies, this one lacks any songs, which is a good thing, I think.
The menus are all beautifully done. They are all animated and have music and sound to accompany the nice visuals.
The extras include a nice behind the scenes look, a dinosaur encyclopedia, a puzzle game and a 3D adventure game. All in all, the extras are very nice.
Bottom line - a great looking movie and a decent story make this movie a good choice for both kids and adults.
"Dinosaur" revisited - October 2005
***************************************
Watching this movie for the second time, approximately Four years after the first time was a delight.
While the story is pretty straightforward, the animation is truly mind blowing, even in today`s standards.
However, I know believe this is not a kids` movie. Young children will definitely be terrified of the frightening dinosaurs.
Still - the movie still has a lot of Disney charm. Recommended.
The additional features i.e. games were tricky for an 8 year old trying to do it too fast. Extremely enjoyable family film.
