Your Opinions and Comments
The video transfer is very good. Both the widescreen and the fullscreen versions look great. There are no compression signs at all and the CG animation is nice (though not mind blowing). Some of the 2-D animations seem a bit flat and the combination of 3-D and 2-D is not seamless. There`s a particularly impressive 360 degrees pan towards the middle of the movie.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good. The surrounds are used for various sound effects and the dialog is always clear.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary, a deleted scene (that clarifies a thing or two), 5 short featurettes about Atlantis, a dumb introduction to the Atlantean language 2 3-D models. Where`s the behind the scenes look?
Bottom line - an average movie from Disney.
I firmly believe that a film is about entertainment, i.e. if you are enjoying it, then you can forgive it not having a super strong story, or ultra witty plot, and when viewed with this in mind I`m sure you will agree that Atlantis is a return to the golden glory days for Disney. With beautiul pictures, Very strong sound, and a thoroughly entertaining experience. Buy it NOW!! ( no I do not work for Disney )...
