While not in the same league as the other Blackadders, this is still worth a look. It`s interesting to see how Blackadder was originally concieved and executed.

No features, unless you`re on about an mildly interesting booklet. Come on, it`s the BBC.

This is where it all began. I couldn't help but be a little disappointed by the content of this series when watching it again. The other 3 series are absolutely brilliant and I think that I tend to forget that Black Adder had to start somewhere.

The disc itself is also a little disappointing, visually it's OK - but nothing to ride home about. And we don't get ANY extra features. The BBC are happy to get cast & crew in to record commentaries for bloody Dr.Who, but Blackadder… no, let's not bother doing anything for that release!! Curse them!! Sorry, got a bit carried away there - even the R1 disc has some extras!

Still, this is a bit of classic, and needs to be purchased to complete any Blackadder fan's collection. It can also be bought in a 4 disc box set that seems to be on offer at the moment (£40 from play.com).
