Deep in the midst of the quaint English countryside lies a miniature village. The village of Camberwick Green, where everyday the inhabitants go about their daily business. Windy Miller is hard at work grinding corn with his windmill, Mr Crockett is polishing his petrol pumps in his garage and doctor Mopp is on his daily round visiting patients.
Narrated by Brian Cant, this classic children`s series comes to DVD featuring 12 full episodes straight out of the musical box that feature such characters as Farmer Bell, Paddy Murphy and of course everyones favourite Windy Miller.
If you remember watching these as a kid you`ll be amazed at how much comes flooding back to you as soon as you`re here the music going. This is great fun not only for the little ones that maybe experiencing this for the first time but also for the bigger ones as they take a trip down memory lane.

    Video

As you would expect from a TV series from the 60`s, the picture quality is not exactly the best. There is a fair amount of grain evident throughout the episodes and the picture is on the soft side lacking any real detail. Also the video suffers from the usual dirt and general wear and tear that you would expect from something this old. You maybe a little put off by the first episode that features an amazing warping type of picture that continuously expands in and out a little, but skip to the next one and all seems fine.
Given the restrictive nature of the source material there is not a lot to complain about and this DVD probably offers the best quality that you`re ever going to see these in.

    Audio

The DVD features the standard 2 channel mono mix that you would expect from material like this.
The noise floor is a little high with a fair amount of hiss audible and there is an occasional pop or slight distortion but nothing terrible. Its perfectly fitting for the material and dialogue is always clearly understandable if a little restrictive.

    Conclusion

This classic childrens series remains essential viewing for the little ones and I`m sure for a few of the adults as well. Although the video and audio quality is not exactly reference material it is however probably the best quality your ever going to see these in considering the original source material and with almost 3 hours worth here, its certainly value for money.
