Some people called him "Lawyer for the Damned"...

    Synopsis:
Some people called him "Lawyer for the Damned"... but Clarence Darrow was simply a man who, in time of justice, had the courage to stand alone.
The name Clarence Darrow is permanently limked to the tremendous strides in the American legal system from the late 19th century through the early decades of the twentieth century. This complex and charismatic one-time farm boy`s history-making legal defences of the Pullman Railroad Strike, the Leopold/Loeb Murder Trail and the Scopes Monkey Trail, have earned him the status of an authentic American hero.

This made-for-tv movie features Kevin Spacey in a very impressive performance (far superior to his overrated performance in "American Beauty") as a lawyer with a profound sense of justice.
The video transfer is awful. Being a made-for-tv movie, the fullscreen transfer is acceptable. However, it seems the source material was a very bad VHS cassette. The picture is out of focus and a lot of video artifacts can be seen throughout the movie. The blacks are rendered as dark greens or pale blues and are anything but black.
The DD 2.0 soundtrack is appropriate, although I would have preferred a center channel.
The menus are still with some music.
The disk offers no extras at all.
Bottom line - a good story and a great performance are ruined by an awful disk.
