    Synopsis:
In present-day London, twelve-year-old Quinn watches as his mother, a construction engineer, inadvertently wakes an enormous fire-breathing beast from its centuries-long slumber. Twenty years later, much of the world has been scarred by the beast and its offspring. As a fire chief, Quinn (Christian Bale) is responsible for warding off the beasts and keeping a small community alive as they eke out a meager existence. Into their midst comes a hotshot American, Van Zan (Matthew McConaughey), who says he has a way to kill the beasts and save mankind - a way Quinn`s never seen done. Directed by Rob Bowman (The X Files), Reign of Fire fuses a medieval past with a post-apocalyptic future in this exciting tale of adventure and survival.

A rather dumb and sort of plotless movie about people fighting for their lives against ancient dragons.
Despite the good cast, the movie`s script is very average and not too interesting.
The video transfer is good. There are very few compression signs and the visuals are pleasing. The dragons` CG varies from good to embarrassing.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good. The surrounds are nicely used and create a creepy atmosphere.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include 3 featurettes, which aren`t that great and a game showcase.
Bottom line - a weak movie and an average disc. Give it a miss.

A rather pointless movie, with a dull and silly plot. The good cast and good special effects are wasted on this dismal film. Basically Christian Bale is the leader of the survivors of the reign of fire, that dragons have brought upon them. Their sole aim is to hide and keep clear of the dragons by digging an underground lair. Soon a US soldier comes to them and tells them that he can kill dragons.....

The picture is very crisp and clear. The colours used are mainly dark and dull ones, apart from the fire. This technique adds to the authenticity that there has been an apocalypse.
The sound is great. We have the choice of DTS or DD 5.1, both tracks are a joy to listen to. The surrounds are well used. There arent many special features. There are 2 featurettes you wont watch because the movie is so rubbish, a theatrical trailer and a trailer for the game.

Overall this was a huge dissapointment as I was really looking forward to this movie, disregarding other poor reviews. I really have to say that this time, the critics were spot on. This is not a movie i`d wanna see again in a long time.
