Mico Classica 20 Hidden Menu Options ?

What does the "error correction" option do ? It was set to "off" on mine (ive since set it to "frame" - figured it must do something !).

Also, on page 2 of the hidden menu options on my Mico Classica 20 it says that the firmware is a beta version ?!

Does anyone know if the firmware is flash upgradable ?

TRUVOX 600 - Can it play CDR ?

Ive just got one from Debenhams. Looks pretty good on DVD but cant get it to play any VCD or CDR discs (can play silver pressed VCD no problem).

Has anyone managed to get it to play a CDR ? If so - which brand ?

Also, does the multi region hack also remove Macrovision ?

Hi yes Id really like to find out if the Sony can play VCDs on CDrs too ! I have checked with 2 places online - one place says that it will whilst the other one says that it wont !

Can anyone who owns one of these units please confirm the situation with CDr support (I know that the player has to be chipped to be multi region).

Im considering this player from Richer Sounds - but would appreciate feedback from any existing owners prior to purchase !

Mainly interested in DVD output quality (all regions/Pal?NTSC) but also the "other things" like how good is the remote, how good are the menus and on screen displays etc etc ?

Has the AC player currently available at Richer Sounds got a "Multi" or "Auto" option for TV system selection or do you have to manually select PAL or NTSC for each disc ?

No on the CH it refers to the signal output by the DVD player to the TV. If it outputs an NTSC signal I get the flickering / shadowy banding problem.

UPDATE ! I have tried the CH 528 player on my 4:3 28" Sony set and the flickering isnt there so it must be a compatability issue between my Panasonic PK2 28" TV and the DVD. The thing is Ive tried 5 other DVD players on the set (including the CH 512) and all of those worked fine with no flickering !

Can someone please help as I cant use the player on my TV at the moment !

Cyberhome 528 NTSC "Flickering" Problem

Since the CH 528 doesnt have an "auto" setting for the output I have to
manually select "NTSC" or "PAL" according to the disc.

When I select NTSC the Cyberhome background screen shows very clearly a shadowy "band" which moves up and down the TV screen (almost like when you see a computer screen shown in the background on the news sometimes).

My previous players did not do this and my TV (Panasonic PK2) can handle NTSC. How can I stop this annoying effect (doesnt happen at all on the PAL setting).

It also shows shadowy bands across the screen when playing NTSC discs on the NTSC setting - is my player faulty or is the 528 just no good at playing back NTSC ?

Goodmans GDDVD124 for £99+VAT

Makro are selling this player for £99+VAT.

DVD Reviewer gave it 10/10 for picture quality and I notice it is region hackable.

Does anyone know which player (if any) this is based upon/is a rebadge of ? (I cant believe Goodmans have sourced an exclusive palyer for their brand name !!).

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to disable Macrovision on this unit ? Thanks.

Cyberhome 528 Displays ?

Are the on-screen displays on the Cyberhome 528 the same as the Cyberhome 512 ?

Limit DVD 8080 LCD/Onscreen Display ?

Since the LCD only shows the chapter number am I safe to assume that you can see the time remaining for both the chapter and the entire disc by using the on-screen display ?

I am asking because on my mate`s Limit JDV300a he says that the onscreen display will only show the time remaining on the current chapter, and not on the entire disc ? This seems a bit pointless if you need to know how much of the movie is left to watch !

It sounds like the player may possibly be a copy of a Medion player like its predecessor which was sold at Richer Sounds. The only thing is that Im sure the Medion players were made in Germany, not China !

By the way - are you able to see the time elapsed / time remaining on a disc using the onscreen menus as the bloke in Richer Sounds told me that the LCD display on the front only shows the track number ?

Limit DVD 3030 = Medion DVD 7950 ?

I notice that the Limit DVD 3030 which was on sale at Richer sounds earlier in the year is actually a rebadged Medion 7950A (literally rebadged - the player is identical in all other respects !).

Does anyone know how much the Medion players used to sell for in the UK ? I think they used to be available through Aldi supermarkets for a short period ?

Finally, does anyone know if they are firmware upgradeable and if so where the firmware can be downloaded from ?

Did you manage to find a website Bighun ? I was looking at this player too as it looks a bargain (nice looking little unit too !).

On a minor point - what is the background wallpaper like when you turn the unit on ? (My mate has an older Limit player and the only thing I dislike about it is the crappy blue and white "DVD Video" wallpaper !)
