LG 5253 £79.99 at currys

I`ve just seen this player for £79.99 at currys including a scart cable and was thinking of buying it as a present for my dad`s xmas box. Is this player any good and can it be hacked to play multi-region or vcd`s?
Other players I was looking at was the Cyberhome 402 for the same price at WHSmiths or the Alba 108 at Argos for £69.99.
Does anyone know if the Alba 108 has zoom, slow motion features etc as Argos does not give any description.

best amp for my tosh

can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced amp and speakers to convert my tosh 210e into a home cinema package capable of d 5.1 and dts. I had been looking at the sony hk475 is this any good?
Can anyone also suggets the best way to connect the dvd and amp?
Where is the best place to purchase the goods.

tosh 210e sound

I am new to the dvd world and have just purchased a tosh 210e for £152 and have connected it via a scart to a toshiba 2557db tv. When playing dvd`s the sound quality is good but the volume is noticably quiter then tv channels. The dvd sound is also alot quieter than if I play a music cd on the 210e. The sound level can be boosted by changing the audio enhancement to dialogue. Is this reduction in volume normal or should I change the player?
