RE: Problems with Richer Sounds delivery!
Could be a very strange coincidence (but I doubt it) - I was given exactly the same excuse by Richer Sounds recently.
I`d ordered a £300 amp from them and was told - yup all fine being dispatched.
Called a couple of days later - "oh have you not got it yet?" basically they claimed that this had gone missing or was stolen from their couriers (not DHL in this instance).
They did not seem too concerened at this............
To be honest I`m getting very tired of the whole internet ordering process - apart from ordering books from Amazon - I always have trouble and hassle..................
QED-UK.COM is really starting to annoy me just now..............
QED retailers - getting annoyed with delivery times.........
Any one else had trouble with qed-uk - ordered some Wharfedeale speakers and they are taking ages......
Claim not to be able to get a firm delivery date out of Wharfedale.
What to do............??
RE: Speaker / Amp Impedance (Ohm) Question
Excellent - cheers Mr Westy........
Speaker / Amp Impedance (Ohm) Question
Hi,
I`ve got a Yammy DSP 620AX amp with two impedance settings. I have Wharfedale Diamond 8.3s and 8.1s that have imp of 6 ohm, though manual says that they are compatible with 8 ohm amp out puts.
The amp has two settings:
A) Fronts - One main set of speakers then each speaker imp must be 4 ohm or over, Centre 6 ohm or over, Rears each 6 ohm or over.
or
B) Fronts - One main set of speakers then each speaker imp must be 8 ohm or over, Centre 8 ohm or over, Rears each 8 ohm or over.
Now, do I go for option (A) which is all 6 ohm or under which is the Whar speciifed nominal imp or do I go for (B) which is all 8 ohm or under which is over the Whar quoted nominal but the manual says that they are "compatible" with 8 ohm amps.
Is there a sound quality decision here? Is option (B) going to damage my speakers?
Your thoughts very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Slarti

RE: Best Video Connections RGB or S-Video????
Sold to the Clayts man..... I just bought the blue BTech cable........
Also couldn`t help myself and bought some Atacama stands at the same time..........
Still not sure which is better between RGB & S-video, but whatever.......
Co-ax vs optical - I went for co-ax..............

Best Video Connections RGB or S-Video????
Hi,
What is the best video connections? (Pioneer DVD 626D to Toshiba TV with 2 SCART inputs, one RGB one S-Video)
Currently connected via standard SCART to SCART (S-video on TV)
Thinking to connect now using either an RGB only SCART (SQART?) or S-video to SCART - both from QED.
I seem to get conflicting reports. RGB or S-Video???
(All audio is going through Toshiba DSP620AX a/v amp)
Oh and while we are at this topic - would using the amp as a video switcher slightly decrease video performance - best to connect dvd to TV direct?
I`m thinking best set up is dvd connected by s-video to scart, all other sky, video etc connected scart to RGB scart.
Am I wrong with this?
Thanks in advance,
Slarti
RE: Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?
I have been getting that advice from a few places now. Looks like I will be bi wiring the fronts and centre with qed anniversay silver bi wire in a 4 - 2 style to the A terminals only. Rears QED Original.
www.hifistore.co.uk are selling silver bi wire at a bargin £7 p/metre right now.
They will also terminate this for you in a number of styles......... nice of them.......... except for 5 speaker cables with 3 of them being bi wires, this works out v. expensive...........
What to do....... DIY banana @ £1 or Airloc banana @ £4 per clip........
Thanks in advance for all your help by the way.........
Oh and Westy - Ultimate DVD to set up all the sound then yes.........??? Where to get a sound pressure guage now............. arrrggghhhhhhhh....
RE: Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?
Bit new to this so bear with me, I`m thinking of using QED Silver Anniversay Bi Wire for the fronts & centre.
Do you advise using a 4 - 2 bi wire set up just using the A speakers
OR
A 4 -4 bi wire using both A & B speaker option?
For the centre I was going to use a 4 - 2 bi wire.
This bi wire good enough?
Cheers in advance!
RE: Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?
With bi-wiring with the a+b speaker option am I right in thinking you use the a terminal for the high end and the b terminals for the low end on each speaker?
Therefore each speaker is connected to both the a and b speaker terminals on the amp, top going to a terminal and bass to b terminal?
You then ensure that both a and b buttons are depressed?
Also ensuring to remove the speaker crossovers...............
This all sound right?
Thanks,

Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?
Hi,
I`ve got a Yamaha DSP 620AX amp & Wharfedale Diamond 8.3 / 8.1 set up.
Would bi wiring the front 8.3s and the centre really make a difference?
Also - any preference / thoughts on whether optical or co-ax is the best connector between amp & DVD?
Thanks in advance.

Mission M7DS & Wharfdale 8.3 Fronts - the best option? And where is cheapest to buy?
Hi,
After much reading here, just got the Yamaha DSP AX620 Amp which looks the business.......
Now, thinking of M7DS or M77DS for the rear speakers, and either Wharfdale Diamond 8.3 fronts or M72 fronts. Either 8.3 centre or M7CS.........
Now - any ideas, which is best, all Mission or add in these Wharfdales......
And if so where is cheapest to get these on line - Richer is ot of stock on the Missions b.t.w.
Cheers,
Slarti
Novice needs advice on nice audio purchase for Pioneer 626 D
Would love some advice on a reasonable set up for Pioneer 626 D.
It has DTS & DD processors etc.
Looking for nice amp and speaker set up for good DVD surround AND CD music quaility.
Easy option seems to be a combo like Sony HTK 215, but would really appreciate advice on a seperates option.
Budget £400 - £500.
As the DVD has the processors the amp does not need them right?
Many thanks in advance!
