RE: HOW should i layout my 5.1 speakers???????

You best bet is the Dolby web site. Try this link.

http://www.dolby.com/ht/Guide.HomeTheater.0110.pdf

This should give you all the info you need.

RE: Yamaha NSP220, Sony SAVE325 or Eltax Stargate X.1 ?

Thanks,

I must admit I like the Yamaha`s 220 size as they will suite my living room. You are right about the 320, they look good too. I have not seen them in real life but from the dimentions they look a bit on the large side. I will try to get the the shop and listen to the 220 and see if they have the 320 as well.

Can I get stands / brackets for the 220/320 as I could not locate any on the net. I know the 220 has a sort of a nail holder in the back but not sure about the 320.

Any input on the other types. I did read here in this forum someone is not happy at all with the Sony Pascal`s range and someone had a doubt about the Eltax.

Thanks

Yamaha NSP220, Sony SAVE325 or Eltax Stargate X.1 ?

Hi guys,

I looked at the Yamaha web site for the new range and it seems that the price of the lowest spec one is similar to that of the Denon 1802. So comparing what each machine will allow in term of conectivity, I went for the DENON 1802 £299 (brand new) and not the Ex-display one which was £199. After seeing them on display and what everyone is doing to them, I did not feel confortable with the idea after all.

After opening the box, I found that the plug is of the 2-pin type. The shop gave me some sort of an adaptor but that did not fit after all so I had to cut the plug and install a new 3-pin UK type plug. Dont know what effect that will have on my waranty as there was no registration form which usually come with electrical goods ????!!!

connected my 2 Eltax silverstone 110 speakers and the diffirence is already felt.

I am thinking of buying a set of speakers and been reading the postings here and since space is a problem, I think the choice is narrowed down to three;

YAMAHA NSP220 £119 from Local Shop
SONY SAVE 325 £130 from Empire-direct
ELTAX STARGATE X.1 £110 from QED

Any sugestions to which one is the best among these three or any other ones within this price range?

Thanks

RE: Yamaha 630 in stock!

Hi Richard,
I was going to get the Denon 1602/1802 tomorrow but after I have seen this posting and looked at Yamaha`s web site, I think I will wait for while. RX-V430RDS, RX-V530RDS and RX-V630RDS have DPL2. I could not find any reference to those models on the net apart from two web sites but only listing the prices. Interesting to know if they also have a problem with the EX flag.

Audio test files, where can I find them ?

Hi,
I am looking for some audio files used to test audio setups and gives the listener a feel of the diffirent sound formats. Anybody know of a place on the web to download such materials.

Thanks

RE: Eltax Silverstone 110 Speakers for £25 (RRP £120) at Currys.

No they are not, I went to one of the stores and it seems they are trying to clear thier stock. You might find them unpriced, so ask the staff you might get surprised with the figure.

Good Luck.

RE: Denon, Onkyo and the 5.1 DPL2 problem

I phoned Denon and they said that the problem lies within the way the signal is codded since the DSP used on the 1602/1802 model is Dolby ceritified. This means that the DSP had to pass a very stringent conditiones set by Dolby Labs. They quoted Dolby`s saying that no more software will be released with the offending EX flags until a solution is found. Denon does not know what the fix will be and what form it will take. Dolby is working as well to find a solution.

Thanks

RE: Denon, Onkyo and the 5.1 DPL2 problem

I checked the Marantz 4200 option but the only problem with it is that you dont have the option of a second pair of speakers which I need to have in the second room. I have looked at Dolby`s web site and it seems that they are updating their coding machines so they will not raise the EX flag wich causes a temp or permanant mute on some decoders. On the Denon side, I have email them beofre you have sent me the phone number and still no reply. Denon is saying on thier web site that they are keeping a list of affected customers for future update but they did not say how.
I will give them a call and find out.

Cheers,

Jaf

RE: Denon, Onkyo and the 5.1 DPL2 problem

Denon, Onkyo and the 5.1 DPL2 problem

Hi guys,
I read on some old postings in this forum that the Denon AVR1602/1802 and Onkyo TXDS595 are having problem decoding some DVD tracks. I was going to buy the Denon AVR1602 but stopped after reading this. Does the problem exist in the receiver itself or in the DVD code?

Any new information on this matter?

Thanks

RE: Decca DDV-5100

Mr____X

How many times the system locked out during the 2 week you had it? It did lockout with me today after I switched the input on the TV set. does that mean it is faulty as I would like to have the 5.1 with system?

Thanks

RE: Decca Video DDV 2110 - Buy one quick!

I have tried MPEG1 (on CD-RW) as a data file on the Decca 2100 and it works fine. The picture is not that great but I guess it depends on the original file. The icon in the list look diffirent than the mp3 files.

RE: Decca DDV-5100

Hi all,

RE: crown ,mico dvd

Hi guys,
One of the good guys on this forum suggested the DECCA 2110 from Power House which is Multi regeon and Macrovision disabled. It cost £109.99 from the shop and less from the net. I have bought one today and paid £30 for an extra 2 years exchange waranty. I have tried DVD, CD, CDR, CDRW, MP3, MPEG files and i must say , up till now there is no problem apart from the remote control is a bit directional and I could not get the signal to pass through my VCR.

the unit looks fine and does not have the 5.1 output. The functionality is excellent.

Will tell you more as I progress.

RE: Cyber Home ADL228 or ADL528

Hello,
At the end I went to Power House and bought the Deccavision 2110. I think I will putup with the colour. The price in the shop is £109.99 and bought extra 2 year direct swap waranty for £30 as the reliability on these machines are questionable.
I had no DVD at all so I hired Sawrd Fish. I must admit I was not intersted in the film as much as the output of the player. The picture is not that bad and I was not empressed with the sound at all. The player has a digital and coaxial output but I have no means of decoding the signal ( for the time being). The functionality is excelent on the remote control but found it a bit directional. By the way, there is no ping sound on the tray open and close.
I have tried DVD, MP3, CD, CDR, CDRW and MPEG files so far. All worked well. I have no means of testing the region combatibility as I had no DVDs for that.
I have tried to pass the signal through my VCR but had no luck, any idea ?
I tried both the scart lead and the phono option for video but seen no diffirence with this film at least.

Will update you more as I progress.

Cheers mate,
Got your email fine,

RE: Cyber Home ADL228 or ADL528

Thanks for the info, I have checked the web site and I might go to a local shop and see the player. The only problem is the colour as evrything I have is black, but I guess I have to put up with something diffirent.

Any idea of a similar set but in black.

Thanks

Jaf

RE: crown ,mico dvd

Sorry AWJ72,

my email is nardabla[at].moc.liamtoh

It seems that all of the good budget DVD players in silver, what a shame, my setup at home all in black. I guess I have to put up with one of them being the silve sheep of the family :)

Thanks again.

Cyber Home ADL228 or ADL528

Hi all,
Richer Sounds is selling Cyber Home ADL228 for £79.95 and ADL528 for £99.95. Does anybody know the main diffirences between the two. I thought of going for the ADL228 as I read in the reviews here that the Macrovision can be disabled in the ADL528. Any idea please.

Thanks

RE: crown ,mico dvd

Hi All,
I have phoned Sainsbury`s customer services on Friday and they said they are expecting some soon. I went yesterday 13.4.02 to a local Sainsbury`s store here in NW London but they did not have any yet.
I will check today and let you know if any available.

BTW: has anybody got a picture of the set? I want to see how it looks if it black or silver. It is a mistry to me so far as I could not find any picture on the net.

Thanks

Jaf
