copy dvds, info needed

i am trying to find out more about copy dvds, i have a chipped REC dvd player, it is region free and plays all discs.
only problem is the price of new discs. to be honest i dont really bother with all the extra features, only watch the movies.
could anyone point me in the correct direction if i were looking for copied dvds at a more reasonable price.

also i have heard of someone who sells on copy films, i believe he does this by copying laser discs to vhs, could he do the same with films to cdrw then i could play them through dvd player, suggestions will be appreciated.
also one last thing , dr dre & eminem up in smoke dvd, on back of my dvd player is digital optical out tried to copy onto my mini disc but message came on md saying not possible , any thoughts.

has anyone heard of a R.E.C dvd player.

i bought one which is multi region have had no problems with it playing discs.just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of one

ok here the problem dont have much of a clue about dvd players,have been reading up on the net and now know about region1 or region2.
so from this list below please can someone tell me for ease of converting to region 1 player the best and best value .
any info would be greatly appreciated as i wnat to purchase as soon as possible, when i say convert to reg1 i mean through keypresses not soldering or anything which might involve taking machine apart.
