RE: What defines a cult movie?

My stab at a definition

A movie that is not mainstream, or did not do well critically. However since that time has gathered a significant following from a group of like minded enthusiasts (AKA Cult).

Its probably also a way of saying its good but not popular. "It bombed at the box-office but has since become a cult-movie".

Likeing a cult movie is akin to belonging to an exclusive club. Would you want to belong to a club that would have you as a member though :-) I`m sure you could write a deep psychological paper on what needs this fullfills...

RE: RSS feeds

Check out these introductions... it sounds rather boring but if you have a reader its very convenient. You get the news as its updated. I read it in my mail reader (thunderbird - a worthy replacement for Outlook express) and it just appears there like mail.

RSS feeds

I was wondering if it was practical to provide an RSS feed for this site. Would be a nice access for DVD news and the reviews.
A number of the other places I visit on a regular basis (BBC news, slashdot, ahem DVDAnswers) provide RSS as an option, and I have grown to love it as an easy way to keep up to date.

Both firefox www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/central.html and thunderbird www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ now support direct RSS folders. I have no idea how technically difficult it is to make the requisite XML though.

It does make reading news items very convenient though.

Any one else part of the RSS revolution?
Julian.

RE: Maplin kow-tow to Macrovision - who`ll be next ?

My player is macrovision free. I`ve never taped anything from it though, never had reason to.
One of the issues with macrovision is that it adds extra signals on top of the normal ones, which mess up VCRs AGC, but may also mess up anything else receiving the signal (TVs for instance). So given the option, I`d rather have the signal pure.

A good explanation and summary of it is here

for those of you with a technical bent.

RE: That odd looking woman in BBC-1`s Hustle

I thought it was good too - there is very little that interests me on TV these days, but I liked this (and I liked spooks). A good plot helps, and a good cast too.
I didn`t see the final twist coming, and neither did my wife who usually spots these.

Now - can someone explain the trick with the melon?
SPOILER:
The explosion rather ruined the first Melon, so what was the 2nd one for, and why didn`t it split his head open?
