Ultimate Matrix Collection

Does anyone know if the version of the Matrix in the Ultimate Matrix boxset is the cut version or not? The BBFC site seems to suggest it is but it looks like the film hasn`t been resubmitted at all.

I emailed the BBFC about The Matrix about a year ago, and I was told that if the film was resubmitted then, it would probably pass uncut and still be 15.....

Nope - it doesn`t look like its been resubbed to them. Probably couldn`t be arsed with it - it isn`t cheap to classify a film

I just did a quick search on the BBFC website and couldn`t find any evidence of it being resubmitted. There are four entries, all classified ages ago with the cuts present.

I doubt they would suddenly allow 10 seconds of previously cut headbutts, so it looks like R1, R3 or R4 is the way to go.

I ordered the R1 version from CDWOW as it has a commentary on The Matrix, the much-hyped headbutts, is the same price as the R2 version and is customs friendly.

I might be mistaken but dont they have to resubmit it as it is a new transfer of the film with new commentaries, dont they have to be classifed?
Think I will wait until the set is released and then place my order, at the moment it will be for the R1 Boxset but if by some miracle the R2 UK Boxset is Uncut I will order that.

Why don`t you do what I did?

Get the original Matrix from R4 - thus PAL, uncut, original commentaries etc, and only about £10.

Then get the R2 ultimate. That way you get everything in PAL and you don`t miss any extras.

Anyone know if the enhanced version of the matrix is going to be released on it`s own?

I am sure once they have made enough money from the Boxset they will release the Discs seperately like Fox did with the Alien Quadrilogy.

Got the set now and all I can say about the new transfer is - wow! Totally destroys the old one in every respect. The package is very nice as a whole, although one of the disc retention clips was broken in transit causing me to think Revolutions was missing (the extras disc had moved, obscuring it). It`s going to be like watching the movie for the first time! What`s even better is that the R1 has the Japanese audio for the Animatrix.

Here`s a brief teaser of a visual comparison I`m planning:
