RE: pace twin/tuner hardrive recorder
Guys
I have had a Pace Twin since launch back in May. Very good, although a few bugs from time to time. Nothing that a power cycle has not fixed :-) Besides the latest Sky+ has bugs too !
At less than £200 it can`t be beaten It records the digital channel in raw format to the 20MB hard drive, which gives 10 hours TV recording (more time if radio). Two tuners means you can easily record one Freeview channel whilst watching another Freeview channel, or indeed watching an existing recording.
Make sure you don`t miss the next scheduled software update, it fixes a number of issues that the units held in retail store`s stock might have, e.g. soft picture, text, recording in standby, various rewind/wind glitches.
I have one plugged into a plasma TV and the picture and sound quality is superb. Recordings are indestinguishabel from live transmissions.
Do a search on these two forums to read 100s of posts on the Pace Twin... "warts and all !"

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50
This £49.99 deal just gets better and better !
Rather than chance any of the Internet-based sites, I went into a 3 franchise in Superdrug on Saturday. They are offering the NEC 808 models on 3togo for £49.99 from 1st until 4th August. Originally they were pricematching anyway againts the Link who are also doing the same deal on the NEC 808.
Once I bought my NEC 808, get this..... they offered me a SECOND NEC 808 on 3togo for £1 !!!
The second phone needs to be registered (and credit checked) to someone else, ie. your wife, a friend, etc. Now I have two NEC 808s, one silver, one black for £50.99.
Now with two of these bricks, you have something useful, even if you only use it for the odd videocall.
Now that I have seen the handsets, I can`t believe that anyone would pay hundred of pounds for them, but two 3G phones with 3togo SIMs (which have the cheapest xnet PAYG tariff) for the equivalent of less than £25.50 each. If you can manage to get the SIMS working in some other 2G mobiles then you have nay even better deal.
You just gotta do it (but avoid the 808Y model, the mic and earpice are on the side of the unit - unbelievable)

RE: Umax DVD Player inc. 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System £83.55 inc VAT
Please clarify. Do the speakers connect individually to the L R C RL RR Sub phonos on the DVD player, i.e. the DVD palyer does the Dolby Digital decoding ?
Or do the speakers connect to the digital out on the DVD ?
I ask, `cos what I am really looking for is a cheap 5:1 decoder speaker system, to hook up to any existing DVD. The UMAX would be a spare player. I need to use my existing DVD, becasue it is PC based running showshifter. I already have a decent home theatre setup. This requirement is fo kitchen use, and I have problems with being unable to force LR output on the PC when a DD soundtrack is detected.
