Thanks Speedy.That was exactly what I needed to know.It was just like Groundhog Day but not as funny ...should of guessed myself I suppose.

Tested and player is now multi-region Yippee !!

I managed to find some instructions for making a CD for the 5000 Series LG DVD players. Made the CD and can get menu for changing the region code but after making the change the player automatically switches itself off and on restart has reverted back to its factory setting of region 2 ??

I followed all the instructions very carefully so I am not sure what to try next?

Any helpful ideas anyone.
