Used this today all worked fine :-
Region code and Macrovision hack
1.open the tray- press set up
2.press the next key
3.press the prev key
4.press the next key
5.press the prev key

ver 255 = region free
ver 1= region 1
ver 2= region 2
press left and right to change

press down key once:
ver 3001=parental control enable
ver 3000=parental control disable
press left or right key to change

press down twice:
ver 4001= macrovision enable
ver 4000= macrovision disable
press left or right key to change

press down key three times
ver 5001= vcd and svcd disable
ver 5000= vcd and svcd enable
change to ver 5000 to play vcds or svcds

The brand is CCE except the c`s are the other way round !

Found one !
The Zip file at this address http://www.area450.co.uk/lg5083hack.htm works with the LG DVD 5183 model, i had some problems at first but that was because i was using a 700 mb CDRW. Got it working in the end using a 650 MB Imation CDRW, burned using Easy CD creator ver 5.x, Not sure if the following points matter but when burning with easy cd in `FILE` - ` CD Project Properties`, I named the volume , selected ISO9660 file system, and selected Mode 1 : CDROM for physical format of CD. Also close the session and disk on the record dialogue page.

When done just put in your player and when prompted select 0 for all regions !

Does anyone else have a LG DVD 5183 ?? Can`t find a hack anywhere !

Does anyone else have the LG DVD 5183 i purchased recently ? I have searched endless websites for a hack and have never yet seen a reference to this model number. The sticker on the box says it was made in Aug 2002. I`m looking to enable it for VCD and multi region.

Any help / hack from anyone would be great !
