RE: Olympus Digital Camera, £99.89 at Dixons

Your all welcome!

I had been looking for a digi cam for myself, and had been comparing a few....However, I`m not buying it myself, I`m hoping santa is gonna bring it for me! ;-)

We have a camera very similar to this at work, and they are very easy to use, and give good results.

Anyone buying this camera though, I would recommend buying a smartcard reader rather than use the `Camedia` software that comes with it. Form my experience that camedia software is very slow for downloading images.

With a smartcard reader, you simply remove the smartcard from the camera, place it in the reader then drag and drop the files from the card to your computer using windows explorer or similar....Takes about a minute!

Maplin are selling multi smart card readers for about £19.99....www.maplin.co.uk There is no direct link, you`ll have to search the site for item ref: A98AA

Hope this helps!

All the best for Chrimbo!

RE: I haven`t stopped laughing..

OK, the petition proved futile in the end, and others will argue about it`s validity at all,
but did it really deserve all the abuse that was posted, some of which is being subsequently
repeated on this thread by others????

some people need to grow up a bit!

RE: I haven`t stopped laughing..

ouch, it`s getting hot in here!

I`m not arguing chicken and egg, what came first...even I know that the book was wrote and named long before the WTC was built.

And OK, perhaps totally renaming it was a bit extreme.

But in the PC world we live in today, why not just drop the `Two Towers` from the title, and call it LOTR 2?

Surely even PJ could see that some people (myself excluded - i`m not American, just British form Newcastle), may take offence to it following events of 15 months ago.

RE: I haven`t stopped laughing..

I did wonder about the title of this film when i first saw it.

But I read soewhere that apparently Peter Jackson was more worried about upsetting a load of Tolkein geeks that he stuck with the name, even though it may cause upset to the many people affected by what happened on September 11th 2001.

And, are you really picking bones about whether it is the TWO towers or the TWIN towers????

I haven`t signed the petition, but after many past and future Hollywood films have been cut or re-shot to omit images of the WTC, and avoid unnecessary upset, why shouldn`t/wouldn`t he rename his film?

I`m probably gonna get flamed off a load of Tolkein geeks, sorry fans when they read this!!!!

All I can say is......BRING IT ON!

RE: Asylum seekers.......Do they realy get all this?

There was a thread on another DVD Forum recently, which discussed this topic at length.

One side said "why are Asylum seekers saying they will go to the UK or die?".......The other side were saying "they had the right to seek asylum where they wanted".

The one question the `do-gooders` couldn`t give a reasonable answer to was "Why are they so determined to come to the UK?"

I agree that genuien asylum seekers in fear of death and/or persecution in their own country, would and should seek that asylum in the first `safe` country they reach.

The recent story where Asylum seekers in France were quoated as saying "we will go to the UK, or die" must prove that they have motives other than safety for wanting to come to the UK.

I am all for taking the tough stance that the Aussies took, and turn them away before they get to our shores!
