widescreen settings

i have a widescreen tv and when i watch dvds in 2.35.1
the enhanced dvds have a small black bars top and bottom
the non enhanced have bigger black bars and if i alter the
tv setting to 16.9L the bars go smaller
is this ok or am i stretching the picture

just read your comments ,not come acroos this before
so i have just checked my terminator discs
and they have this clouding all over ,like condensation
not played it for some time
does this mean it will not play
and why won,t they replace it

the dvd player is tosh 100e
the tv hitachi dolby digital widescreen
the dvd is set on auto
and tv is pal and ntsc and auto picks the signal
if i play enter the dragon r2 and the same film
on r1 the black bars are greater on the r1
i throught this was normal for a ntsc signal?
or is the dvd ntsc setting and tv ntsc setting confusing
each other
which one takes prefrence?

region 1 and region 2 widescreen question

if i play a dvd in widescreen region 2 on a widescreen tv
you get black bars top and bottom which you expect
but when i put a region 1 widescreen dvd the black bars
are greater so less veiwing screen
is this caused by the region 1 being in ntsc signal?

looking to get hold of a copy and test it out
shame they have not released the dts version in this country
can remember when it come out on video years ago
they only use to have one copy then and you went on a waiting list

going on what you have said
i would go for the cyberhome 402 from wh smiths £80
its multi region great picture and sound
and its got a 2 year gaurantee
also with that dvd an average scart is ok

as you can see from my link they are none 5 star
so which are the same as you have

yes it is in 5.1 and i had got it set in 5.1 mode when i tested it the copy i have is same as this link

its not the 5 star one
its says star wars trilogy across the top with special edition underneath
blue cover the disc itself is purple with printed label
i have not played it all the way through
i got all 3 dvds and played a bit from each one to see what they were like
and noticed the sound was quiter on empire without altering the sound setting
also tested the part where luke in is x wing going round the walker with the wire attached, did not go round the speakers as you would epect from 5.1 but then again they are bootlegs,
but look alot better than any video ,and will do till the originals come out

just got hold of the se dvds, just checked them out
trying a bit on each dvd ,picture is a lot better than video,
sound is great, but was quiter on empire strikes back, have you noticed this ?

yes i do know they are pirate ones ,
there is a thread on the quality of the star wars dvds,
so i wanted to know what the quality of the indiana jones were like,
some one must have them,,,
i dont have any pirate dvds ,but i will get the star wars ones,
because i can not wait for 10 years
waiting for every last drop of money from the video releases,
before they are released on dvd

i have a multi region dvd player and a 32" widescreen tv which does pal and ntsc
when i play a region 1 dvd in 2.35.1 the black bars top and bottom of the screen are larger.. less screen view than the same in a region 2 disc ,,is this caused by being in ntsc signal
