RE: DVDs that have an mp3 listing (on tv)

Thanks for that, so there`s at least 2 other options, & one with a 3 year guarantee, to boot. Good ol` Walmart!

Wayne, really interested in the ASDA dvd. It seems to do all I want for an mp3 player, I`ll probably use it most as a cd player. I guess all dvd players are different, how would you rate the cd/mp3 quality?

Excuse my ignorance, but could I listen thro the tv speakers OR hifi speakers?

RE: Philips 8cm CD MP3 Player for £30 at Amazon - Bargain!

Being a bit of a cheapskate myself - anyone know if this jobbie be plugged into a car cassette player with one of those converter kits?

DVDs that have an mp3 listing (on tv)

I want to buy a DVD that not only plays mp3`s, but shows the listing on screen (tv). Anyone know if any cheapish DVD offers it other than the Sony DVPNS305 (who call the facility an mp3 browser)?

I`m about to buy a new Philips tv, and thought a Philips dvd would be best. Same remote? Easier connections? Compatible? Or is the same make not important?

Thanks, Chris

RE: Philips DVD-634 player

Sorry, this is not an answer, just another question...
I want to buy a DVD that not only plays mp3`s, but shows the listing on (tv) screen. Anyone know if this jobbie does it (like the Sony DVPNS305, who call the facility an mp3 browser)?

General questions re DVD/receiver prior to purchase

My, oh my, its all changed since the 70`s when I`d wander down Tottenham Court Rd, pop into Laskys, and knew whats what!

Its time for me to get up to date, but I`m confused. I`ve done my damndest to read up, I`ve wandered into Richer Sounds (& wandered straight out again!)

I want to buy 3 things, starting with a digital 28" TV. As the last Sony has lasted 22 years, I`ve talked myself into a Sony KD28DX40. It has virtual Dolby + Freeview digital tv & radio. Mind you, trying to puzzle out how this differs from the KD28DX40 has made me grey even more, so...
Question 1) anyone know the difference?.

I`m no sound purist so I want a DVD mainly to play MP3`s. I thought I`d go for a Sony DVPNS305 (£120 at Richer Sounds + £20 for multi regional). I don`t think I`m too fussed about USA dvd`s, but ...
Question 2) is there a `hack` (its got to be easy) for the Region 2 one?

If you`re not fed up with me yet...

Being used to Quadrasound in the 70`s, Virtual Dolby Surround sound is ok for me, I don`t want 5+ speakers. But, I`d lke to use my 2 existing external speakers when listening to music. And I`d like to get radio.
Question 3) Am I right in thinking I need a receiver (aka home cinema?) to do this?

Question 4) Could I finally connect up the Video I already have, thereby ending up with a system comprising of:- a digtal surround sound tv, 2 external speakers (optional), a dvd and a video?

Please don`t make me get my walking stick out again for another wander into Cheaper Sounds. Thanks for any help.
